Carol Berning enjoys painting images of people and scenes important to her. Whether it’s a still life of eggs or rusty trucks, portraits of family and friends, or landscapes of lush fields or dark alley ways, she enjoys painting images of people and scenes important to her.  She is fascinated by how light and shadow create form, bringing a two-dimensional image on canvas to life.  Carol primarily use oils; however, she also enjoys drawing and painting in pastels and charcoal.  Her charcoal drawing of her husband is included in the 2016 volume of Strokes of Genius: Expressive Texture.  Carol has studied with Susan Truex, Pat Thompson, Brett Weaver, Roger Dale Brown, Richard Greathouse, Max Ginsburg, Teresa Oaxaca, and Kevin McPherson.  She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, Women Painters of the Southeast, and Murfreesboro Art League.
