Glenda Shaw Brown was born in Europa, Mississippi. At the age of one her family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. In 1994, Glenda studied at Memphis College of Art and then five years of classical atelier training at The Contemporary Realist Academy in Memphis. Continuing to strive for excellence, in 2001 Glenda studied at University D'Angers in Angers France. In 2003 she studied under Nelson Shanks at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Glenda continues her studies with prominent artists in workshops throughout the United States. Glenda's works are included in the public collections of St. Mary's Episcopal School, Memphis University School, Probate Court in Shelby County,TN and private collections throughout the United States. Her work has been published in the April 2004 issue of International Artist Magazine and 2012 Nashville Arts. In 2013, Glenda was contacted by Walter Foster publishing company to illustrate and write a chapter in their book "The Art of Basic Oil Painting" published in February 2014. Glenda was awarded the 1998 American Society of Portrait Artist Grand Prize in Montgomery, Alabama and the 2003 Portrait Society of Atlanta First Place and Members Choice awards. Glenda is represented by Portraits Inc. in Birmingham, Alabama, the Beverly McNeal Gallery in Birmingham, Alabama, Portraits South in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Gallery 202 in Franklin, Tennessee.
